Overview

Book browsers are welcome in this cozy, two-level bookshop on Adams Morgan's bustling 18th Street. The rather worn shelves are crammed with every different type of book imaginable, and all books are well organized by author and genre. The books in here are used; paperbacks are half the cover price and hardcover books list the price on the inside cover page. Books are generally in good condition. The shop has several strategically placed chairs on the small upstairs level for those struck by the temptation to scan their literary finds.

Overpriced books and a rude staff. If you are in the Adams Morgan / Dupont Circle area, try Second Story Books. They have a much better selection and lower prices.

      Almost Idealby Yahoo | 2005-01-31 02:56:56 |

There was an interesting collection of all types of books and the store exudes an eclectic, creative atomosphere. There is a beautiful view of mainstreet Adams Morgan from the third story window. The staff are nice, helpful and knowledgeable. At the same time however, the prices for the books were quite high. Many of the books were old and tattered and the high prices did not seem justified in many cases. If the prices were lower and/or the quality of the books was better the place would be perfect.

A great store with a fantastic selction of books. Idle Times has a serene, peaceful atmosphere that is inviting to the nomadic reader. You can sit on the upstairs sofa for hours and delve into the fantastic array of interesting books. Their fiction section could offer a more diverse array of international/alternative authors, but has enough to keep you reading for a while. Prices are decent, but in some cases, could be fairer.
