I loved it! everyone was so nice to each other. You saw families and my favorite was lil children soakin up their culture. Its wonderful to be apart of something so great. ITs a boost of confidence for all shapes and sizes. Nobody hates on each other we just enjoy each others company. The costumes were amazing

I've been going to the Caribbean Carnival in Washington, D.C. for the past four years and it's always a great time for us. Though the heat can be intense sometimes and it does tend to get overcrowded, overall it's a wonderful event and a chance to experience cultures different from our own. The vibrant costumes, the bass-rich music pulsating the humid air, the unique foods from that part of the world, all combine to give you an unique experience. Everywhere from Grenada to Brazil, to Jamaica, to Trinidad and Tobago is represented in this colorful, rhythmic parade. My sons and I are African Americans born and raised in the U.S. but this Carnival gives us the chance to connect with our intercontinental brothers and sisters (and gives me plenty of vacation ideas!) No matter what your race, creed, or color, the Caribbean Carnival held annually in Washington, D.C. is a chance for EVERYONE to experience and appreciate cultures and customs different from our own. I recommend it to everyone but make sure to bring plenty of ice cold water and be prepared to buy some as well. Every time that I've been to this event for the past four years, I've seen at least one individual faint (presumably from heatstroke/overexposure) which can be prevented by having ice-cold water and Gatorade on hand. So don't miss the the Carnival next year- and bring your family! You won't be disappointed.
