Overview
Te Papa Tongarewa, Museum of New Zealand, is a fitting testament to the nation's heritage and storehouse for some of the country's most precious treasures. Te Papa celebrates the unique multicultural nature of New Zealand through art, exhibitions and multimedia. Highlights include virtual bungy jumping, a day in the life of a junk shop and the chance to walk through a reconstructed slice of real New Zealand countryside. Come for an afternoon or even spend a week!Open Hours
Fr to We from 10:00 AM to 06:00 PM, Th from 10:00 AM to 09:00 PMThis is a very interesting museum. Quite a lot of walking but well worth it. The view from the roof is amazing. All in all a day well spent.
Cant believe some people! A GREAT museum with GREAT displays. Free Admission is FANTASTIC and cant believe people are 'Bagging' it. There's just no pleasing some people. They shouldnt bother going! They are the zero raters!!!! I LUV TE PAPA !!!!!
I think the Te Papa Museum may be a bit overated, though i did like alot of the exibits were quite interesting my favourtie of my visit was the made in New Zealand and the Eyptian display.
it was ok but kind of a waste of time.the time i spent at new zealand i could have been working on something else or doing something more productive like sleeping.
Compared to the old musemuem that Wellington had, this pales in comparison, not worth going. It is all the commercial junk and "attractions" that you would expect from a cheap trade fair, not a national musemuem. Half of the exhibits are quite obviously replicas and sadly it's just not up to any kind of standard that should be on display as a national heritage
an excellent atmosphere with much fun and wonders.l recomend this place for every tourist and l assure that one will never think of any other.
Visiting this museum is a great way to learn about the fascinating and dynamic cultural and geographic history of New Zealand. Whether you have only a few hours, or a whole day, checking this museum out is a must!
If you live in Wellington or just visiting, this is a great place to spend time if the weather is not great. It's big, interesting and free.
What a great museum. We spent about four hours (and could easily have spent at least four more) wandering through the exhibits and getting a feel for New Zealand. The Maori history and art is fascinating and the museum's descriptions of the (continuing) conflict between native and settler is (mostly) objective and fair-minded. This is a must-see for anyone spending more than a day in Wellington.
I loved it, had a great time. Te Papa really shows New Zealand off and it was worth going.
