Don't waste your money.by Yahoo | 2008-06-13 02:57:42 |

The boat is run down, desperately in need of cleaning and repairs. There was NO service even though we were told there would be. If you go expecting to be served lunch, brown bag it unless you want to buy chips and a drink at the snack bar. I guess the company could care less, there was no reply when I contacted them with my concerns. I repeat,........don't waste your money!

People should know the difference!by Yahoo | 2008-01-18 02:15:28 |

What most people don't know is that the River Rouge is under new ownership and is no longer affilated with the paddlewheel tours thank God... My experience was incredible aboard the River Rouge last summer, finally somebody invested alot of money towards making this project a winner once again! The renovation was 1st class(hi-end) with excellent service,price,satisfaction...it offered me a 2nd positive outlook on the entire project. HAPPY CUSTOMER PS:WHAT'S UP WITH THE PADDLEWHEEL ANYWAYS??? GET WITH THE TIMES and try to learn something from the new owner at the RIVER ROUGE...good luck Paddlewheel you have plenty of work ahead of you!

m.s river rougeby Yahoo | 2007-08-27 21:00:19 |

the m.s river rouge (docked at the redwood bridge in winnipeg, manitoba). has been renovated and repainted,it still remains its origanal white and red colours. the rouge is cheaper then the paddlewheels. the tickets are 10 bucks adult and 5 bucks children.unlike the paddlewheels they have couchs everywhere.theres friendly staff and theres more room on it. the food is great but is a little pricy. it sails 12-3 and 6-9 and the dance cruise on sundays 10-12. the fine river boat is more of a party boat but still maintains its luxary for cruises. the expirance was great. if you are looking for a great luxary river ride thats cheap in money ,the river rouge is a great choice. its clean on the boat, including the bathrooms. the gift shop has been permanatley removed though. im not criticizing the paddlewheels but they are expensive and is less luxarious.there still a great experiance but i think the river rouge outranks it in luxary, tidiness, service and price. we cant wait to go back on the boat that was once nicknamed Canadas Finest River Boat! we hope u go on it. it is a great expiriance.

Thank God I didn't!by Yahoo | 2007-08-26 19:33:47 |

I was on this boat for my grade eight graduation back in 1998. Of course I was young so I enjoyed it but I notice from reviews it has plumitted downhill. I was actually considering finding out how much it would cost to have a wedding reception aboard the boat but threw that idea out the window after reading what people had to say about their experiences. I'm so disapointed. You'd think that management would "clean house" after hearing about rude staff from everybody and maybe renovate the boat a little. Of course it would be hard to come up with money to do that when nobody wants to spend the money to come aboard. Maybe you should start reading your reviews and change the way you manage your buisness. I would never waste my money to rent this service just to disapoint my guests.

big disappointmentby Yahoo | 2007-08-21 02:08:34 |

It had been several years since we had been on the Paddlewheel and my Mom turned 75 this year and thought it would be a nice way to celebrate her occasion. 5 adults bought tickets for a Sunday afternoon excursion, planning on having lunch. After we boarded, and headed to the dining room, we were told that due to staff shortages, we would be served in approximately 30 minutes. Over the PA, the captain then said that most of us would not be served lunch due to the staffing issue. They obviously knew this before we paid and boarded the ship but they did not inform us of the problem as they took our money. The Paddlewheel is looking old, tired, and dated. The comentary from the captain was weak. This experience was a big disappointment and we will not be going back.

Disappointed in Kenoraby Yahoo | 2007-08-14 02:14:55 |

First and foremost, we are from Kenora, Ontario and we are familiar with the "tour boat" experience. Here in Kenora, we have the M.S. Kenora and it is a wonderful trip to take. We were very disappointed at the feeble attempt at hospitality while aboard your ship. There was no dining room...no greeting the guests...we ordered food that came in a basket like a bar....and absolutely NO commentary. I was shocked. We wondered about landmarks, about the river itself...there was NO information given whatsoever. In Kenora, the captain keeps the guests informed of points of interest, points out eagle's nests and narrates local history. All the while, the guests are served, greeted warmly and treated as though they would like you to come back. The waitress however, was very hospitable and treated us well. (short blonde hair-didn't catch her name)...but would have been nice to see her in a uniform instead of the VERY short and inappropriate skirt. My motive for writing this letter is to inform you of our dissatisfaction and hopefully to help you improve the service you are attempting to provide. Thanks for listening. P.S. We board the M.S. Kenora EVERY year..because it is THAT good. (no, we have no reason to promote it...it's just VERY NICE)

Fun for........by Yahoo | 2007-05-07 01:24:29 |

I remember having my grad on this boat. It was great fun - for a bunch of young adults who just want to party together, drink etc...but not a very classy venue for a wedding. I remember the food was gross and cleanliness lacking as well as poor hospitable staff...can't imagine having a wedding there. A friend thought this would be a cool "different" wedding venue...thank goodness she changed her mind....

The worst experienceby Yahoo | 2006-08-22 16:13:30 |

My family and I decided to attend the dinner and dance cruise on a Saturday night. This was the most awful experience. The staff and service was horrible they were rude and pushy. Not to mention you pay full price for the boat, however you are only allowed on the top portion of the boat for the first hour and a half. As well, even though it is a DINNER and dance cruise dont expect to eat until nearly 2hrs after you arrive on the boat. That's right as well, once we finally received our food it was served on dirty trays and cold! as well we even caught the kitchen staff playing with their dirty shoes while handling food. Prices were outrageous. Don't forget to check out the great souvenier shop I was told. Well how can you check out the souvenier shop when it's not even open?!!! This was an extreme waste of money. It has been nearly two weeks since this experience and I have left several messages with the Manager "Steve," regarding my cpomplaints. I have yet to receive a call back. I would not suggest anyone attend this cruise especially out of towners! If you do go, be sure to check out the mould everywhere! This boat needs serious work as well as friendly staff.

Needs improvementsby Yahoo | 2006-07-31 15:34:38 |

My husband and I went on the River Rouge dance cruise from 7:00-10:00pm on Saturday July 29, 2006. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip, however, noticed several things that should be improved upon. Although there had been 4 hours since the last sailing in the afternoon, the ship very obviously had not been cleaned after the last sailing. Our tables were being wiped after we were seated, which I heard a customer complaining about to the crew member wiping the tables. I almost sat in a wad of gum left on the seat in the booth we chose. There were cigarette butts on the carpeting up on the top deck, which many people commented on. I never saw an ashtray on board, so presume the rest of the butts were thrown into the river. There was no commentary on the trip whatsoever, not even a "Welcome Aboard". They were questions concerning where we were, and what we were seeing, but the Captain never said a word. We encountered several people with out of town company, who commented on the lack of cleanliness and lack of hospitality. Most of the music that the DJ played was not age appropriate. It would have been better to play more of a variety of music. I would hate to see this lovely attraction fail, because it does highlight Winnipeg for tourists, but feel these problems need to be addressed.

Loved It...by Yahoo | 2005-07-11 21:16:21 |

I founded this to be a relaxing way of spending a Friday evening. My 6 year old daughter just loved it.
