Overview
The Vintage Locomotive Society, which formed in 1968 to restore old rolling stock and operate a museum, is comprised entirely of volunteers. The Prairie Dog Central was their first project and is now the oldest steam-powered locomotive operating in North America. Take the two-hour, 45-kilometre tour with stops in Warren and Grosse Isle, where town residents organize craft and bake sales and visitors can take in various rustic attractions. It was a great place to take my class of students to. They absolutely loved it!
Only topped by the barbed wire museum in Kentucky. Pehaps if we were elderly, but not a young family with small children. also too many opportunities for kids to break things and get in trouble.
