Overview

If the body yearns for a quick escape from downtown Xiamen's busy, building-lined streets, this lush park is the perfect answer. A fan of footpaths wanders through the park's tropical landscape of palm trees and ferns, wildly colored flower gardens and mind-calming ponds. A large bronze statue of Doctor Sun Yet Sen, China's democratic revolutionary pioneer who challenged the Qing dynasty in 1911, enjoys all-star status with locals. The park also houses several "ooh-look-at-that" temples.

      Peaceful Havenby Yahoo | 2008-11-10 11:23:28 |

Zhongshan Park is, as mentioned in the site introduction, a peaceful haven in the middle of a bustling city. For a quiet walk by yourself, with your family or "significant other" this place s perfect. Lovely stretches of water surrounded by very well maintained areas of grass and trees. Even when moderately busy there are still places to go and get away from everyone else if you so desire. A great place to meet friends for informal picnics or games. Entry is free which is an added bonus. There is a small cafe/shop, a small fairground for the children and boats for hire on the lake.
